Isotype (WorkShop)

I'm not quite too sure but I think Isotype signification meant 'information system of typographic element'. For this workshop, we looked at symbols which could give out information visually without using type. For example there was a sign which had a figure of a man and a dog beside it facing right; at first I didn't quite understand why it was placed like that until I read on top of it the word come. I then though to myself that there was no way someone would understand that type of symbol indicating to 'come'. Beside the 'come' symbol there was the go symbol but it didn't leave much of an impression that it was a go sign.
After we worked in groups using some statistic research (why homeless people become homeless) to display it in a visual way people can look and understand without having to read any text. we had some statistic about why they become homeless and we quickly decided on how to display the result through paper man.

Contrast

With my partner for the work, we collected images which were a contrast to each other. The contrast theme we had was Much-Little. So the images we used were what we though was what london has and the first images we used were money; 1p and 2p coins for little and loads of £20 notes to represent much. The second example was about small space for little and big family for much. We then got them on a4 landscape and folded it.

Mapping and symbols

This session was based on mapping; we were to draw our way from home to university and we did it in three steps:
-use only line and shape to show distance
-use only text to show the distance
-use only drawings to show distance.For me it was a bit tricky to get on paper because the distance from my house to university is quite far but i had managed to get it down on paper. i still confirmed that the exercise was a bit tricky because we only had ten minutes for each plan travel.

Timeline on POP ART Comic Strips

I chose to focus my VCT Timeline on pop art comic strips from where it got inspired to the laters pop art comics.

Back to LCC for final project!!!

Holidays are over and now is time to head back to LCC to work my back on this new upcoming project. London, London, where can I start with the multi optional choice to look at?? to be honest right now I don't know but I will have to manage and find something that would show my view on London to others.

Random Doodle Design

I did this design while waiting for a session to start. I didn't really know where that was going to take me and whether if it was going to look good or not, i just went for it. You could say i was inspired by one of the t-shirt design which i posted previously as they are just lines forming shapes and being repeated. I first started as a booklet and then started drawing on top of it and decided to also draw the inside. In the end when i did stop i though to myself that the outcome was interesting and that maybe i should try developing it further for instance into a pattern.

More books design

At first i did not realised that the birds were flying both ways which i though was a nice thing that had been done there. The image is simple and i also liked that they only used one colour for the cover which i think is what makes this illustration really appealing as it does not divert any focus by the colours fighting to stand out.
